Egirl Troubleshooting

Oculus Rift

keyboard_arrow_rightThe headset view is blank

If you have an Oculus Rift, make sure that you have installed the Oculus app and set up your space. To allow Egirl to use the Oculus Rift headset, you will need to enable unknown sources in your Oculus settings (Oculus does not allow adult-oriented apps in its store). To enable unknown sources:

  1. Start from the Oculus App on your computer, select the gear icon on the upper right.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select General from the menu on the left.
  4. Locate the Unknown Sources section.
  5. Select the toggle to enable this feature.

Each time you run Egirl, you'll need to open the Oculus desktop app first. If the Egirl loader says "no vr device detected", this indicates that the Oculus desktop app is not running or the Oculus Rift is not plugged in / turned on. If this occurs, please make sure the app is running, the Rift is plugged in and active, and restart Egirl.

When you start up Egirl, your default VR view is set based on the location of your VR headset. If you have it sitting on the floor or table, and then put it on, your virtual location may be incorrect. To fix this, you can at any time press the "Reset VR View" button, available on the Oculus XBox One controller. You can also hit the "r" key on the keyboard.

Make sure that the Steam desktop app is running, and that the Steam VR module is active. If the Egirl loader says "no vr device detected" or you can't start the loader, please make sure that Steam VR is running and it shows that your Vive system is active before running Egirl.

keyboard_arrow_rightThe Vive controller navigation buttons sometimes don't work

The Vive controller has both touch-pad and physical "clicking" buttons - Egirl VR uses the physical buttons for navigation. Sometimes these buttons won't respond with repeated clicks. A solution is to remove your thumb from the controller's touch-pad, and then touch the area (up, down, left or right) and click. As the Vive firmware and software gets better this issue should be resolved.
